Yet Another Abdication

by Taran

We all loved her in our own ways and the amalgam personality felt it all.  He was an all-right kind of guy and probably had the hardest job out of everyone.  He had to filter our collective thoughts and wants on a daily basis.  All the more challenging when she was around [You spin me right round, baby, right round.] Hey, wait your turn.  Anyhow, things got tough and he hit the road, abdicated.  Jumped right out a window and splattered all over the roof of the hotel.  When I saw that Matthew had painted a grave, I knew he was gone for good.

He had help from the Circuit Breaker.  CB’s kind of a one-dimensional guy who is only around to do a single job, which he does too well, I think.  He sits in front of this big metal box with all kinds of veiny wet circuits running into it.  When there’s some kind of crisis, he just starts ripping out the connections until the amalgam personality is out of danger.  Now this brute force approach doesn’t sit too well with me.  Not the most efficient way of getting the job done.  Although I’ve seen the Circuit Breaker just snip a few cords here and there to eliminate certain responses or feelings, he usually just tears things out.

So before we know what’s going on, our guy the amalgam personality has bailed out the window and the Circuit Breaker is doing his rewiring thing.  Next thing we know, we’ve got another amalgam personality at the wheel and he has no idea what is going on.  I mean what’s really going on.  He starts having himself a good time and decides to just ignore me no matter how loud I yelled. ~Yelling isn’t always what is best, Taran.~ Okay, maybe yelling isn’t the right word.  I was trying very hard to get his attention, to say the least.

Whenever there’s an abdication, our little world is thrown into chaos as we try to sort things out.  As usual, the dark ones make a play for control.  I’ve had my eyes on these guys for a while.  Or maybe I should say the one guy with three parts.  They had recently taken control of the old doorstop, Norbert.  As long as that parasite stayed out of my way, I didn’t care what they did with it.  We had come to an agreement some weeks before that everyone would get a little bit more face time now that the former amalgam personality had clued in to the nature of his existence.  So the dark ones had claimed a small portion of our world.  A stone door appeared in one of the hills.  It lead down to a creepy cavern with a big throne at one end.  What a bunch of pretentious chumps!  I only had a brief look at the place and never went back down.

So anyway, back to the main point.  So the dark ones tried to jump into the driver’s seat, but were scared off by Grey, one of the guardians.  He’s been around for about twelve years now, fighting off the bad guys.  During this last power play, we got a hold of the dark ones’ names.  I’m not allowed to say them, but I will say that they all begin with “R.”  Ha!  Yeah, take that you bozos.

Got something to say? Go for it!
